A brand new typeface inspired by a typewritten letter from the Bristol’s Garton Brewery from
1 November 1894.

As designers, we have long appreciated how a typewriter typeface can strongly influence a design. But it’s not a genre that has been that too widely explored. The Garton family brings a unique historical and elegant twist to an otherwise mechanical form.

Garton is evenly proportioned with only a subtle contrast in the strokes – giving the classic typewriter qualities a more contemporary feel. Garton is available in three weights — Light, Regular and Bold — with corresponding italics. It is open to licensing in both Standard (‘STD’) and Professional (‘PRO’) versions. The latter contains numerous OpenType features and stylistic alternates.

Garton is designed by Studio Makgill and Luke Charsley and is available exclusively via Colophon
