A visual essay on sub-culture by one of the UK’s most celebrated photographers.

“Being outside of the mainstream is like being the kid who got kicked out of the party for setting the curtains on fire”.

Dean Chalkley needs no introduction. It’s hard to think of a musician or band that he hasn’t photographed. One sees him take his obsession with sub-culture further. It’s an astonishing visual recording of the beautiful and subversive worlds of banger racing, military re-enactments and local bands.

We worked very closely with Dean on the book’s edit and pace, and right down to final production. As always, the experience of working with Dean is highly collaborative and creative.
